LG Electronics Power Electronics UFRC Student Invitation Event

On March 31, 2026, the Power Electronics UFRC student invitation event was held at the LG Electronics Gasan R&D Campus, hosted by LG Electronics together with Professor Younghoon Cho of KOPEL at Konkuk University and Professor Gyobeom Lee of Ajou University. UFRC stands for University-Focused Research Center. A total of 31 students participated in the event, including 15 undergraduate students and 1 master’s student from Konkuk University, as well as 15 undergraduate students from Ajou University.

The event began with an introduction to LG Electronics. The participants had the opportunity to learn about the company’s history and major business areas. In particular, they were introduced to LG Electronics’ philosophy of Core Tech, which emphasizes technological independence and the development of proprietary technologies. Through this session, the students were able to gain an appreciation for LG Electronics’ strong sense of pride in its technological capabilities, while also reflecting on the attitude of responsibility and commitment that engineers should have in pursuing innovation.

Afterward, the participants visited the laboratories and research facilities of the HS and ES divisions, where they were able to observe real research environments and development sites. This provided the students with a valuable opportunity to see how research in power electronics is connected to industrial applications and how the knowledge learned in undergraduate and graduate studies can be translated into actual products and technological development.

Following the lab tour, the participants shared dinner together and continued their conversations in a more relaxed setting. The event served as a meaningful opportunity for the students to experience the industrial field of power electronics up close and to further shape their thoughts on their future academic and professional paths.
